SID SINGH: AMERICAN COLONISER

VENUE: JUST THE TONIC: CABARET VOLTAIRE

TIME: 5.30PM

Fringe favourite and winner of a 2023 Comedian’s Choice Award, Sid Singh returns to the Edinburgh Fringe with a brand new hour of stand up about American colonialism, British Taco Bell & mediocre Indian ancestors.

Heard the one about the British Indian comedian whose brave and wise ancestors overcame hardships and struggle to achieve incredible things? American Coloniser is not that story. Join Californian comedian Sid Singh as he hilariously delves into his murky family history in his attempts to discover how to save the world from Imperialism using lessons learnt from his morally dubious Indian ancestors. Rather than overcoming hardship, Sid’s forefathers were thieves and traitors who colonised India before the British and constantly switched their allegiances enabling them to control five Indian villages while moonlighting as the secret police for the richest man in the world.

Sid Singh is an excellent stand-up comedian and mediocre human rights lawyer from California. As a comedian he performs at comedy clubs, festivals and on TV around the world, while as a lawyer he has helped the Center for Gender and Refugee Studies defeat the Trump administration in court.

Sid Singh is also a former cast member at Boom Chicago in Amsterdam whose alumni include Jason Sudekis, Jordan Peele, Seth Meyers, Amber Ruffin and Carl Tart. He has written for BBC's Comic Relief, BBC3's Muzlamic, Comedy Central UK's Modern Horror Stories, Channel 4's Tez O'Clock, and made TV appearances in Austria and Romania. His 2022 Fringe show ‘Illegally Funny’ transferred to the prestigious Soho Theatre and his Instagram series For Some Reason w/ Sid Singh.

HARRY STACHINI: GRENADE

VENUE: UNDERBELLY: BRISTO SQUARE

TIME: 5.45PM

A masterful storyteller with one of the most amiable and easy-going stage presences on the comedy circuit today, Harry Stachini looks at honesty in his latest hour.

We all carry our own grenades with us; our own problems to deal with in our own lives. Do we pull the pin, or do we not? With a focus on his own family’s dynamics, Harry looks at how pulling his own pin destroyed an eight-year relationship, a mortgage and a blue whippet.

A former teaching assistant to children from disadvantaged and challenging backgrounds, Harry delves into his former years educating future serial killers in a surprisingly relatable, honest, and hilarious show.

Now a regular at the circuit’s top clubs and venues, Harry performed his debut Fringe show to sell-out audiences in 2019. In fact, he often finds himself playing to sell-out audiences in his home town of Manchester. His online videos have amassed millions of views across his social media and his first podcast series, The Staff Room Podcast (where teachers share their anonymous stories from the classroom) was nominated for Best Comedy at The British Podcast Awards. Watch out for his latest creation, All Made Up, which will be recording live at Hootenannies: The Apex (Hoot 3) - 1:30pm 2nd - 12th August.

From finding himself climbing a 'group trek' of Kilimanjaro solo to performing overseas in the likes of Dubai and Eindhoven, Harry has many an international tale to tell. He has already worked alongside some of the best names in the industry including Russell Kane, Milton Jones, Jason Byrne and Jessica Fostekew to name a few, and he will no doubt become a name to look out for after this summer.

GRAHAM KAY: PETE & ME

VENUE: GILDED BALLOON: PATTER HOOSE

TIME: 6.20PM

Fresh from appearances on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon and The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, comedian Graham Kay is bringing his show Pete and Me (A Non-Depressing Look at Autism and Family) to the 2024 Edinburgh Fringe.

Exploring his relationship with his brother from childhood through today, Pete and Me is a cheerful look at growing up with a profoundly autistic brother—that’s the titular Pete, a charismatic and hilarious individual who the audience soon falls in love with through Graham’s caring and generous point of view.

But unfortunately, the world doesn’t always see Pete through Graham’s eyes. From daily calls pretending to be Bert and Ernie, to Graham getting arrested and his brother hanging up on the cops, Pete and Me covers the sometimes silly, sometimes serious moments that have changed Kay’s comedy career, romantic relationships, and the paths his life has taken.

Underneath heartfelt anecdotes and witty punchlines, and concluding with catharsis of contemplating the uncertainty of his future as part-comedian and part-caretaker, Graham ultimately confronts his life’s biggest fears while providing a space for the conversations we rarely get the chance to have.

An award-winning stand-up comedian, actor and TV writer, Graham Kay has been described as “brilliantly funny” by The Huffington Post Comedy. Graham recently performed stand up on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon, Late Show with Steven Colbert and NBC’s Bring The Funny and has a new comedy special put out through Just For Laughs. JOE MCTERNAN: LOST

VENUE: UNDERBELLY: BRISTO SQUARE

TIME: 6:50PM

Lost. We’ve all felt it at some time or another, and we’ve wished there was an internal GPS in us that could just put us back in the place we wanted or want to be. This is a show about change, heartbreak, and picking yourself up and ploughing on—in an attempt to be found.

Scottish stand-up comedian and viral comedy sensation Joe McTernan didn’t expect to be single at 32. Now, after a ten-year relationship, he’s striking out on his own and learning what life is like when every decision is your own and the decisions you make could have devastating or incredible outcomes.

Having been told travel is ‘good for the soul,’ Joe went from never having been on a plane to visiting 12 countries in eight months. His soul may well be enriched, but he’s still yet to ‘find himself,’ as his indignation and anxiety have been triggered. Oh, and he’s been urinated on by a squirrel monkey in the Dominican Republic—not just once, but four times.

Hilarious and relatable, Lost sees Joe face his fears, worry about his lack of plans to have kids, compare himself to his Dad, and, more importantly, discover that happiness can be found after heartbreak.

Joe says, “We can all feel lost after our path in life is diverted, but maybe you have been lost for years—and this is you finally becoming the person you were supposed to be! I want to wish everyone that comes into (and goes out of) my life all the best. Finding and sharing humour in life’s challenges brings us together and helps us stay positive.”

Famed for his observational comedy and unique style, stand-up comedian & actor Joe McTernan has over 50 million views and 170k online followers for his hilarious character-based sketches. His viral success attracted the attention of Law & Order star Angie Harmon, with the pair shooting a hilarious coffee shop spoof reel. Joe has also performed on BBC’s ‘The Comedy Underground’, supported Tom Stade on tour, and co-created the online (Scottish Comedy Award-winning) sitcom ‘M.U.F.F.’ alongside Daniel Sloss and Craig Hill.

Joe McTernan will return to Ed Fringe this year with a brand-new show, Lost, following last year’s critically acclaimed & sold-out performances for his show: Life Advice That Won’t Change Your Life.

AMOS GILL: GOING DOWN SWINGING

VENUE: UNDERBELLY: BRISTO SQUARE

TIME: 7.45PM

Winner: 2024 Adelaide Fringe Best Comedy Weekly Award

Winner: Adelaide People’s Choice Award and Adelaide Comedian of the Year

Winner: Weekly Award for Best Comedy at Perth Fringe World

Nominee: Best Newcomer Melbourne International Comedy Festival

INVITED TO PERFORM AT THE NETFLIX IS A JOKE FEST

Incisive and intelligent, multi award-winning comedian Amos Gill returns to Edinburgh with more boundary pushing standup that is equal parts challenging and acerbic - but always hilarious.

At the 2024 Adelaide Fringe, Amos was on the receiving end of a tabloid hit piece and 'cancellation' for something he didn't say. Against advice, he took legal action against the paper and had a win against click bait journalism. Going Down Swinging takes aim at the unholy alliance of corporations and cancel culture, identity politics, and the inconsistencies of woke culture, all while delivering huge laughs.

With razor-sharp wit, Amos dissects modern society's hypocrisies and absurdities of anti-straight white male sentiment and deftly lampoons the quirks of his Croatian heritage.

Expect relentlessly funny anecdotes about his battle with an airline over their one-beer policy for Australians and unfiltered observations on race relations, gender, and economic disparity.

Amos Gill is a highly acclaimed  comedian who has conquered Australia’s comedy scene and is one of the hottest new headliners on the US club circuit. His 2023 Edinburgh debut enjoyed sold out shows and a host of rave reviews. His extensive TV credits include appearances at the Just for Laughs Australia show at the Sydney Opera House, ABC TV’s  Comedy Up Late series and All-Stars Comedy Gala at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival. Amos has also gained a legion of fans around the world having toured with Jim Jefferies, including performing for a sell-out crowd at New York's iconic Madison Square Garden and London's O2 Arena. In the last year he has been selected to perform at the Netflix is a joke festival and JFL Montreal.

Before moving to the US, Gill co-hosted  a ratings winning breakfast radio show on Adelaide’s Hit107 for 4 years as well as hosting ABC TV’s Wacky World Beaters and Channel 7’s Footy Plus. He was also a regular guest on Jimeoin‘s FIFA World Cup comedy commentary series The Full Brazilian (SBS) and Ten’s Celebrity Name Game and Studio Ten. He’s also a qualified lawyer, but poor lawyer.

‘F*cking hilarious’ ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Weekend Notes

LUKE CHILTON: NETFLIX & CHILTON

VENUE: JUST THE TONIC: CABARET VOLTAIRE

TIME: 8.00PM

Netflix & Chilton is the debut Ed Fringe show from the unique, endearing, and unhinged South London-based comedian Luke Chilton. A rising star on the UK comedy scene with accolades including BBC New Comedy Award finalist, NATYS Finalist (2022), and shortlisted for British Comedian of the Year 2022 and 2023, Luke has swiftly become a favourite with both audiences and his peers. His off-beat and chaotically loveable stand-up debut is set to be an unmissable show at this year’s Fringe.

Expect topics including sexual exploration, coming-of-age shenanigans, and hilarious dissections of a complete medically approved psychotic breakdown, as he shares his regret at taking the (now banned) malaria drug Larium, battles with intrusive thoughts and tries to figure out denial. Luke Chilton serves up the kind of wild anecdotes guaranteed to get you and your pals talking.

Luke says, “My show is about gay sex and going mad, which is weird because I’m not gay, and I hate talking about mental health. Psychosis is rarely discussed through a comedic lens, and I want to change that, because I know from personal experience that so much of it can be objectively hilarious”.

Luke Chilton has provided tour support for Vittorio Angelone and Bobby Mair and is a fixture at London’s top comedy venues like Up the Creek, Kings Head, Angel Comedy, and Vauxhall Comedy Club; he is the resident MC every Wednesday at Big Belly Comedy Club, London. Luke is also the co-host of the podcast Habibi & Ivory with fellow comedian Omar Badawy, an epic crusade of Middle East meets West chin waggery, pondering cultural differences & whatever has been tickling their brains.

Commenting on making his Ed Fringe debut, Luke says: “My baseline emotion is always confusion, but aside from that, I feel very creatively turned on to be performing at Fringe”.

“Some of the most hilarious, interesting & unique routines I’ve ever seen”

– Vittorio Angelone

“This boy is f**king hilarious” – Rich Wilson

“Inventive, lively & very funny” – Luke Toulson (as seen on Russel Howard’s Good News)

“He kills very hard. He is also very nice. F**k.” – Bobby Mair

**Disclaimer: Watching this show will not make your partner want to sleep with you; however, it may make you want to sleep with Luke Chilton.

PLASTIC JEEZUS: LEAVE THEM WANTING LESS

VENUE: UNDERBELLY: BRISTO SQUARE

TIME: 8.20PM

“These guys are genuinely hilarious” – Ed Byrne

Winners of 'South Coast Comedian of the Year' (2022), British Comedian of the Year Semi-Finalist, 'Best Newcomer' at the Musical Comedy Awards (2021), and ‘Circuit Breakers' at Leicester Comedy Festival (2022), Simon and Aaron are Plastic Jeezus, a deadpan musical comedy duo performing side-splittingly surreal and unique original songs.

The Bournemouth-based pair's comedy turns the serious business of making music on its head, busting through genres and teaming them with observational comedy. Tracks like 'Hold Music' are set to become future classics, alongside the hilarious 'My Angle (A Lovesong, Autocorrected)' and earworm single 'E For Effort'. The music is interspersed with Simon & Aaron's hilariously quirky leftfield humour, keeping audiences in stitches, and leaving us all wondering what it's like inside their wonderfully imaginative heads.

Plastic Jeezus have rapidly built up an incredible reputation as a live act, storming comedy clubs across the UK.  They have played alongside some of the most exciting acts in the UK, including Seann Walsh, Marcus Brigstocke, Ed Byrne, and Angela Barnes. The duo has performed at clubs including Brighton Komedia, York Barbican, and Comedy All Stars, as well as festival shows in Hastings, Brighton, and Shaftesbury and a sell-out Leicester Comedy Festival show. Their popular TikTok live video has over 130k views.

Plastic Jeezus say, "Finally, we get to bring our unique blend of misanthropy and small instruments to Edinburgh. We think songs about life in Dorset, played on a tiny bass, will thrill the good people of Wales".

Catch Plastic Jeezus at Ed Fringe before they implode due to 'creative differences'.

In praise of Plastic Jeezus:

“With their pin-sharp lyrics and affable nature, musical duo Plastic Jeezus look set to soon have many disciples following their comedy adventures" - British Comedy Guide

“Plastic Jeezus combine satirical, sharp writing with musical talent and natural timing. Intelligent jokes and a brilliant, authentic comedy understanding allows you to get totally absorbed in each hilarious premise. Musical comedy at its best”  - Tom Brandt (Head of Content, NextUp Comedy)

"I can't recommend these guys enough. They are dark, daft and bloody hilarious!" –

Chris McCausland

“These guys are going straight to the top" - Ed Chappel (Musical Comedy Awards)

“When Plastic Jeezus took part in (and eventually won!) my new act competition I had to double triple check they weren’t a pro act signed by a big agent. They have the perfect personae to win over any crowd and hilarious tunes to back it all up. It’s hard to explain how Plastic Jeezus really work their magic but imagine a 21st century Laurel & Hardy as a ukelele duo and you’re pretty close” - James Alderson (Promoter / South Coast Comedian of the Year - Organiser)

“Great” - Dave Gorman

After graduating, Katz quickly made a name for himself performing stand-up throughout the Bay Area.

Katz’s career highlights include performances at prestigious comedy festivals such as the Montreal Comedy Festival and Atlanta’s “Laffapalooza” Comedy Festival in 2005. He also made his television debut on “Last Call with Carson Daly,” solidifying his status as a rising star in the comedy world.

DAN RATH: PARIAH CAREY

VENUE: UNDERBELLY: BRISTO SQUARE

TIME: 9.50PM

Australian comedian Dan Rath returns to the Edinburgh Festival Fringe this year with his new show Pariah Carey.

Last year, Dan Rath was bitten by a tick. “I've since been diagnosed with Lyme's disease, long COVID and chronic fatigue syndrome. I've got enough different flavours of brain fog to start a vape store. I've enlisted an army of nanobots with defibrillators to resuscitate my dopamine receptors so I can listen to dubstep again.” So he says to introduce his Edinburgh Festival Fringe show, Pariah Carey.

It’s a long way from Australia, but Dan just can’t stay away from Edinburgh. After bringing successful shows in 2022 and 2023 (Cockroach Party and All Quiet Carriage Along the Inner Western Line) the off-beat comic, often compared to compatriot Sam Campbell for his command of the surreal, the strange, and the inexplicable, is back again with another riotously self-deprecating and surprising hour.

Newcomers to Dan’s style of comedy should go in expecting nothing but chaos, on the level of the special he recently released through 800 Pound Gorilla, “I’m Not Doing Well Folks.” Dubbed “a one-man crash course in neurodiversity” by Fest Magazine and “bruised and battered with nothing to lose” by his own website, Dan is raring to go and ready for another round at the Fringe. But are you?

What the press have said about Dan Rath Pariah Carey

“a unique, offbeat voice, it’s great to see Rath finally finding the wider audience he deserves” ⭐⭐⭐⭐  Chortle

“I didn’t want him stop. Rath’s energy produces even more electric and contagious laughter live in the room” ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Comics Comic

What press have said about Dan Rath:

“A near-constant barrage of laughs" ⭐⭐⭐⭐  Fest

“Like a millennial holy fool with a smartphone, a renegade for the digital age who reveals not a Matrix but the genuinely crazy, arbitrary rules we've somehow all consented to live by" ⭐⭐⭐⭐ The Scotsman

“Satisfying, cathartic and utterly offbeat humour” ⭐⭐⭐⭐  Beyond the Joke

He’s not just a comedian; he’s a force to be reckoned with whose renowned for his near the knuckle material and depraved one-liners, ready to give heavyweights like Frankie Boyle and Jimmy Carr a run for their money.

If Milton Jones is the Obi-Wan Kenobi of one-liners, then Ryan Cullen is the Darth Vader, wielding his jokes with an economy of words and surgical precision. His material elicits gasps, followed by uncontrollable laughter and applause. It’s a masterful balance that leaves audiences both delighted and disconcerted, often questioning if they should be laughing at all.

Having carved a name for himself as a runner-up in the Irish Comedian of the Year competition, Ryan’s talent has been showcased on esteemed platforms such as BBC Scotland’s The Comedy Underground, BBC NI’s Late Licence, RTE, and MTV. His unique brand of humour has earned him rave reviews and a loyal following.

“Big laughs, his material has the ruthlessness of a young Jimmy Carr and the sexual turpitude of Jim Jefferies at his most priapic. This is extraordinary stuff,” says Kate Copstick of The Scotsman. Comedy Scoop adds, “Ryan Cullen looks unassuming, but his clever black humour had the crowd gasping in horror and giggling simultaneously!”

Ryan is a festival favourite, having graced the stages of the Altitude Comedy Festival and Snowbombing in Austria, Perth & Adelaide Comedy Festivals, The Vodafone Comedy Carnivals in Dublin and Galway, Shindig, Cambridge Club, Kendal Calling, Electric Picnic and Otherlands in Perth, Scotland, among many others. Edinburgh based comedian Cullen has the ability to leave a lasting impression which is undeniable, making him one of the most talked-about comedians in Ireland and the UK today.

In addition to his live performances, Ryan is a headliner on the immensely popular 'Facts' YouTube Channel, boasting over 500 million views and 1.5 million subscribers, as well as the 'Try' Channel with over 500,000 subscribers. His reach is vast, and his impact is profound.

Ryan Cullen is not just another comedian; he is an experience, a dark, twisted brilliance that audiences will talk about long after the show ends. Prepare to gasp, laugh, and question your own sense of humour as Ryan Cullen takes you on a journey to the comedic dark side.

"Ryan Cullen is one of my favourite comedians. Hilarious and so dark you think 'How the f**k did he end up like this?" Daniel Sloss (Netflix)
