SID SINGH: AMERICAN COLONISER
VENUE: JUST THE TONIC: CABARET VOLTAIRE
TIME: 5.30PM
Fringe favourite and winner of a 2023 Comedian’s Choice Award, Sid Singh returns to the Edinburgh Fringe with a brand new hour of stand up about American colonialism, British Taco Bell & mediocre Indian ancestors.
Heard the one about the British Indian comedian whose brave and wise ancestors overcame hardships and struggle to achieve incredible things? American Coloniser is not that story. Join Californian comedian Sid Singh as he hilariously delves into his murky family history in his attempts to discover how to save the world from Imperialism using lessons learnt from his morally dubious Indian ancestors. Rather than overcoming hardship, Sid’s forefathers were thieves and traitors who colonised India before the British and constantly switched their allegiances enabling them to control five Indian villages while moonlighting as the secret police for the richest man in the world.
Sid Singh is an excellent stand-up comedian and mediocre human rights lawyer from California. As a comedian he performs at comedy clubs, festivals and on TV around the world, while as a lawyer he has helped the Center for Gender and Refugee Studies defeat the Trump administration in court.
Sid Singh is also a former cast member at Boom Chicago in Amsterdam whose alumni include Jason Sudekis, Jordan Peele, Seth Meyers, Amber Ruffin and Carl Tart. He has written for BBC's Comic Relief, BBC3's Muzlamic, Comedy Central UK's Modern Horror Stories, Channel 4's Tez O'Clock, and made TV appearances in Austria and Romania. His 2022 Fringe show ‘Illegally Funny’ transferred to the prestigious Soho Theatre and his Instagram series For Some Reason w/ Sid Singh.
