Papa CJ

Papa CJ is widely recognised as the global face of cutting-edge Indian stand-up comedy. He represented India on Last Comic Standing on NBC in 2008.
From the thousands of comedians who took part,
he was ranked as
one of the top ten acts in the world.

He is a New Delhi-born, Sanawar-schooled, Calcutta-bred and Oxford-educated stand-up comedian. He has performed in North America, Africa, Europe and Asia, with
sellout out global tours
that have received rave reviews from the press.

A performer with a conscience, Papa CJ founded the charity One Child, which works with underprivileged children in India. This charity is funded by his comedy.

After visiting the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2004, he gave up his corporate career and started performing stand-up comedy later that year.

After being a regular on the UK comedy circuit he moved back to New Delhi in early 2008, where he started off the English language stand-up comedy circuit in India.

In 2009 he became the first Indian comedian to be invited to perform at the prestigious
Just for Laughs festival in Montreal.

He became the very first Indian comedian invited to do a solo show at the
Melbourne International Comedy Festival.

Along with numerous performances at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival, he went on to
sell out the prestigious Soho Theatre in London, and
got two standing ovations during his Broadway debut in New York!
