Gina Yashere is an internationally acclaimed comedian, actress, writer and producer whose remarkable journey has taken her from the streets of East London to the bright lights of Hollywood. One of Britain's most successful comedy exports, Gina has become a household name on both sides of the Atlantic thanks to her fearless stand-up, unmistakable storytelling and trailblazing career.
After becoming a familiar face on British television through appearances on Live at the Apollo, Mock the Week, Have I Got News For You, The Lenny Henry Show and Comic Relief, Gina conquered the American comedy scene as a finalist on Last Comic Standing. She went on to make history as the first British comedian ever invited to perform on HBO's legendary Def Comedy Jam, before appearing on The Tonight Show, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah, HBO's Crashing and starring in Netflix's The Standups.
Away from stand-up, Gina has enjoyed huge success as a writer and producer. She co-created, executive produced and starred as Kemi in the hit CBS sitcom Bob Hearts Abishola, alongside comedy legend Chuck Lorre, creating one of the first American network sitcoms centred around a Nigerian family. The series ran for five hugely successful seasons.
Most recently, Gina has boldly gone where few comedians have gone before, joining the cast of Star Trek: Starfleet Academy as the formidable Cadet Master Lura Thok opposite Academy Award winner Holly Hunter, introducing her to an entirely new generation of fans.
